Electronics is our world

Technology evolves and advances. Our development environment encourages thoughtful integration of leading-edge technologies that can help your project succeed.

We can’t always talk about the challenges we have solved. We can say that our design intelligence is embedded in some of today’s most advanced products. Our designs support robotics, UAVs, satellites,

fuel cells, imaging devices, environmental science, industrial instruments, medical equipment, specialized sensors, consumer devices and wearables, IoT, and a myriad of laser applications.

ANALOG ELECTRONICS
.

.
Electronics interact with the real world through an analog interface. Sensors that measure temperature, images, sounds, and many other variables are used in modern systems to monitor the environment around us. Likewise, transducers like motors, lasers, and piezo-electric actuators are analog devices that allow us to interact with our surroundings. Proper conversion between analog and digital domains is crucial to maintaining signal integrity and information content. Even as digital processors advance to allow us ever more powerful ways to process and use the collected data, that data is fundamentally analog. Analog circuit and feedback control design continue to be highly valued for product and instrument development. These disciplines have always been fundamental capabilities at Cascodium.

.
POWER ELECTRONICS
.

Electronic systems are designed to operate from a variety of power sources. Batteries, AC, fuel cells, and solar cells are all used as power sources for electronic systems from cell phones to spacecraft. Likewise, a multitude of transducers require power electronics to operate them; lasers, motors, and induction heaters are some examples. Electrical power is also routinely converted from one form to another in modern electronic products and systems. Understanding power conversion circuitry and the unique challenges that arise during their development has always been a core competency at Cascodium.

.
DIGITAL PROCESSING
.

.
The continuously shrinking transistor has produced processors and field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) of ever increasing power and complexity. Size and cost continue to drop. This ongoing evolution of digital hardware has enabled cost-effective, yet advanced, embedded processing applications. Cascodium continually leverages new hardware processors and embedded firmware tools to give our clients access to these powerful and ever changing components.

SYSTEM DESIGN
.

Our clients’ needs range from the relatively simple, but elegant, to very complex design solutions that incorporate multiple processors and FPGAs with multiple embedded code bases, all combined with low-noise analog electronics and multiple power converters. Issues that arise in these system trade-offs include component cost, design complexity, product sustainability, signal integrity and grounding, power dissipation, testability, technical performance, packaging size, weight, and many others. One of Cascodium’s unique strengths comes from the ability and experience to help our clients make effective system trade-offs and optimizations.
