Working at Cascodium

Learn from talented and experienced colleagues. Grow with diverse design objectives. Solve challenging technical problems. Create innovative electronics prototypes.

Cascodium is an electronics, firmware, and software design company that collaborates with client development teams to deliver successful product development outcomes. Our clients range from start-ups to the Fortune 500 in a wide range of industries (including medical, robotics, energy, consumer, space, defense, homeland security, etc.). Cascodium applies diverse experience, as well as deep theoretical knowledge, to deliver electronics solutions for new products and instrumentation. Our excellence in collaboration and project management led the U.S. Small Business Administration to name Cascodium its National Subcontractor of the Year in 2014.

Our organization relies on project leads to manage each project and delegate project tasks to the staff; project leads are senior staff members who also perform technical work on the projects they manage. The technical staff is a shared resource so that over time staff members have the opportunity to work with different senior staff. Project tasks are assigned based on a balance between leveraging previous experience and providing opportunities to learn new skills. Staff members are not pigeonholed into a particular role or discipline, but rather encouraged to develop broad disciplinary knowledge. An emphasis is placed on professional collaboration to deliver outstanding results to clients, teamwork to help staff members complete their tasks successfully, and mentorship to foster each staff member’s technical growth. Currently, the team consists of electrical and computer engineers (and one physicist) from Dartmouth, MIT, Tufts, and the University of Maine with a mix of bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

Staff members are engaged and focused during work time to benefit our clients’ interests, as well as the team. In exchange, the team strives to insulate personal time, and especially vacation time, from email, texts, telephone calls, etc. Lunchtime might include casually completing the crossword together in the breakroom, picnicking outside with colleagues, or joining a group at a local restaurant. Common interests include the outdoors (hiking, kayaking, camping, etc.) and gaming. Cascodium offers comprehensive benefits including holidays, paid-time-off, paid sick leave, subsidized health and dental insurance (currently Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts), a flexible spending plan for medical and dependent care expenses, a 401K with a 3% company contribution (not a match), and group life insurance. An intangible benefit is the company’s policies which support a clear separation of work time and personal time.
